Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use laptoprepairspecialists.com or book a service with us, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. It sits alongside our Cookie Policy and Terms & Conditions.
We take your privacy seriously and only collect what we genuinely need to repair your device, fulfil your order, and run the site. We never sell your personal information.
1. Who we are
Laptop Repair Specialists Ltd is the “data controller” responsible for your personal information. We are registered in England and Wales (Co. No. 16221615). Our shop is at 56 Tavistock Place, London, WC1H 9RG. You can reach us on 0800 211 8284 or info@laptoprepairspecialists.com.
2. The information we collect
Information you give us
- When you book a repair or build — your name, email, phone number, collection or return address, the device make and model, and the description of the fault you send us.
- When you buy a refurbished device or custom build — your billing and delivery address and order details. Card payments are handled securely by our payment provider; we never see or store your full card number.
- If you create an account — your login details and order history, so you can track current and past orders.
- When you contact us — anything you include in an email, web form, or phone call.
Information we collect automatically
- Usage data — your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit, and how you got to the site. This is gathered through cookies and Google Analytics 4, and only with your consent. See our Cookie Policy for the detail.
- Server logs — standard technical logs kept by our hosting provider to keep the site secure and running.
3. How we use your information
We only use your information for clear, specific reasons. The table below sets out what we do and our lawful basis under UK data protection law.
- To diagnose, quote, and carry out your repair or build — basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To process orders, take payment, and arrange delivery — basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To answer enquiries and provide support — basis: our legitimate interest in responding to you, or performance of a contract where you’ve booked.
- To keep accounting, warranty, and tax records — basis: compliance with our legal obligations.
- To keep the site secure and prevent fraud — basis: our legitimate interest in protecting our business and customers.
- To measure how the site is used and improve it — basis: your consent (through the cookie banner).
- To send you service or marketing updates — basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
4. Marketing
We’ll only send you marketing emails if you’ve asked us to. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time by clicking it or emailing us. Opting out of marketing won’t stop service messages you need — like a repair quote, an order confirmation, or a delivery update.
5. Who we share it with
We only share your information with the suppliers who help us run the service, and only with what they need to do their job:
- Our payment provider — to take card payments securely.
- DPD — to collect and deliver devices.
- Google Analytics — for anonymised site analytics, where you’ve consented.
- Our hosting and email providers — to run the website and handle your enquiries.
- Professional advisers — such as our accountants, where reasonably needed.
- Authorities or regulators — only where we’re legally required to.
We never sell your personal information or share it with anyone for their own marketing.
6. International transfers
Some of our suppliers, such as Google, may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we make sure your information is protected by an appropriate safeguard recognised under UK data protection law — either a UK adequacy decision or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.
7. How long we keep it
- Order, repair, and accounting records — six years from the end of the relevant tax year, as HMRC requires.
- Enquiries that don’t lead to a booking — up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Account details — until you ask us to close your account.
- Marketing consents — until you withdraw them.
8. Keeping your information secure
The site runs over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and access to customer data is limited to the people who need it. No system is ever completely secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access.
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Have inaccurate information corrected.
- Ask us to delete your information, where there’s no legal reason for us to keep it.
- Ask us to restrict or object to how we use it.
- Ask us to transfer your information to another provider.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we relied on it.
To exercise any of these, email info@laptoprepairspecialists.com or call 0800 211 8284. We’ll respond within one month, and we won’t charge you for a reasonable request.
10. Cookies
We use cookies to keep the site working, remember your preferences, and — with your consent — measure how the site is used. You can read the full detail and control your choices in our Cookie Policy.
11. Children
Our services aren’t aimed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we’ll remove it.
12. Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change. Where the change is significant, we’ll make it clear on the site.
